I have worked with teens for over 10 years in both front-line and clinical settings. My experience includes supporting youth in group homes with daily life, emotional regulation, relationships, routines, school, family stress, and real-world functioning, as well as providing clinical counselling for teens dealing with anxiety, depression, motivation issues, trauma, anger, confidence, and mental health challenges.
That background matters. I have seen both sides: the practical day-to-day side of helping youth function, and the clinical side of helping teens understand what is happening beneath the surface. I know that teenagers often need more than advice, lectures, or generic coping skills. They need a strong connection with someone they trust.
One of my strengths is building genuine relationships with teens, including youth who are guarded, resistant, hard to reach, or not excited about counselling. I work to make counselling feel normal, respectful, and useful rather than awkward, forced, or overly clinical.
My approach is practical, direct, and collaborative. We look at what is going on, what is getting in the way, and what small changes could actually help. The goal is not endless talking. The goal is helping teens understand themselves, build real tools, and move forward.
I also support parents who are trying to help their teen without turning every conversation into pressure, conflict, or a lecture. Counselling can give your teen another trusted adult to talk to while giving your family a clearer path forward.

MY APPROACH
Teen counselling works best when the teen feels respected, not analyzed.
I have spent over a decade working with youth in different environments, from group home settings where the focus was daily life, safety, structure, and functioning, to clinical counselling settings where the focus is mental health, emotional patterns, trauma, anxiety, depression, motivation, and change.
Because of that, I do not see teens only through a clinical lens. I also understand the practical side: sleep, routines, school, family conflict, responsibility, avoidance, peer pressure, motivation, emotional outbursts, shutdowns, and the daily habits that either help a teen move forward or keep them stuck.
My work draws from CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and trauma-informed care. I use these approaches in plain language, with a focus on what actually helps in real life.
Counselling may help with:
-
anxiety and overthinking
-
depression or low motivation
-
school stress and procrastination
-
anger, irritability, or emotional shutdowns
-
confidence and identity
-
family conflict
-
avoidance and feeling stuck
-
emotional regulation
-
pressure from school, sports, relationships, or life expectations
-
ADHD
-
Screen Use and Addiction
I am especially strong at connecting with teens who may not open up easily. Many youth do not want a “therapy voice” or a lecture. They want someone real, steady, and honest who can help them make sense of what is happening without making them feel judged.
The goal is simple: build trust, understand the problem clearly, and help the teen take the next step forward.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
Outside the office, I spend most of my time with my kids, in my workshop, or climbing. I’m a father of three, and my life is shaped by the everyday realities of work, family, and responsibility.
